In last year’s event, he reached the second round, only defeated by eventual winner Rafael Nadal (7-6, 6-3). The Canadian Masters – ranked ATP Masters 1000 – is played oudoors and exclusively on hard courts. Established in 1881, it is the third oldest tournament out there after the Championships, Wimbledon and the US Open. Stan has been doing a lot of training in Switzerland lately in order to be in the best possible shape for the Canadian Masters!Stan est un habitué de ce tournoi : il a participé à presque toutes les éditions depuis l’année 2005. L’an dernier il a atteint le deuxième tour, battu sans démériter (7-6, 6-3) par Rafael Nadal, futur vainqueur de l’épreuve. Le Masters du Canada – qui fait partie de la catégorie des Masters 1000 – est disputé sur dur et entièrement en extérieur. Fondé en 1881, il s’agit du troisième plus vieux tournoi du circuit après Wimbledon et l’US Open. Stan a effectué une très bonne préparation en Suisse en vue de ce tournoi, il arrive donc en Amérique du nord avec beaucoup d’ambition!
