The confrontation started with Stanislas Wawrinka’s defeat against Mardy Fish after a four hour game (6-2, 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 9-7). Then Roger Federer lost to John Isner (4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2) before the third and decisive point was won by the americans in the doubles Fish/Bryan against Federer/Wawrinka (4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3). The « Fedrinka » doubles team, gold medalist in the Beijing Olympics 2008 did not get the chance to bring Switzerland back on tracks, better luck next time !Roger Federer et ses coéquipiers n’ont rien pu faire pour enrayer l’intraitable machine américaine, qui accède ainsi aux quarts de finale de la compétition. La paire « Fedrinka » médaillée d’or aux Jeux Olympiques de Pékin 2008 n’aura donc rien pu faire pour ramener la Suisse vers le chemin de la qualification !
