The first Grand Slam tournament of the season is here ! Le premier tournoi du Grand Chelem de la saison est déjà la! After quite a busy start in 2012 (Chennai quarterfinal and then Adelaide’s exhibition tournament), Stanislas Wawrinka is about to take part in the Australian Open, taking place in Melbourne from january the 16th to january the 29th. Played on hard courts and outdoors only, this prestigious tournament is an regular Grand Slam ATP 2000 event. Stan is currently 23rd in the ATP World Tour ranking and he is very confidient for the Melbourne event and that doesn’t come as a surprise since his best Grand Slam performance ever happened in the Australian Open a year ago ! In the 2011 edition, he indeed reached the quarterfinals, only defeated by eventual finalist and fellow citizen Roger Federer. Stan is ready as can be for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season !
Après un début de saison chargé (quart de finale à Chennai, puis tournoi d’exhibition à Adelaide), Stanislas Wawrinka s’apprête à disputer l’Open d’Australie, qui se déroule à Melbourne du 16 au 29 janvier. Disputé sur dur et en extérieur exclusivement, ce tournoi prestigieux est doté, comme tous les autres tournois du Grand Chelem, de 2000 points ATP. Actuellement 23ème au classement de l’Association de Tennis Professionnel, Stan arrive confiant en Australie, et pour cause: il a réalisé sa meilleure performance la bas lors de la dernière édition! En effet, lors du tournoi 2011 Stan avait du s’incliner en quart de finale, battu par son compatriote et partenaire de double Roger Federer, égalant par la même occasion sa meilleure prestation lors d’un tournoi Grand Chelem (quart de finale à l’US Open 2010). Tous les voyants sont donc au vert pour ce premier Grand Chelem de la saison!
