Stanislas Wawrinka does not make the quarterfinals in the 2012 Paris Masters. He lost to the Spaniard David Ferrer, currently 5th in the ATP rankings, on the score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. After getting rid of Carlos Berlocq 6-3, 6-2 in his first match in this tournament, Stan was not able to cope with the mastery of Ferrer. He took all the risks to get back into the match after losing the first set, but without much success. He nevertheless managed to tie at one set all after calling twice the physiotherapist in the second set because of pain in his right forearm. Stan, though he defeated Ferrer a few weeks earlier in Cincinnati, was not able to match this performance on the French ground. Après avoir éliminé Carlos Berlocq 6-3, 6-2 pour son premier match dans ce tournoi au second tour (exempté de premier tour), Stan n’a rien pu faire face à la maitrise de Ferrer. Stan a pris tous les risques pour revenir dans le match après la perte du premier set, mais sans grande réussite. Il a néanmoins réussi à égaliser à une manche partout après avoir fait appel à deux reprises au soigneur dans le deuxième set en raison de douleurs à l’avant-bras droit. La troisième manche était de trop face à un Ferrer des grands soirs, que Stan avait pourtant battu quelques semaines plus tôt à Cincinnati.
